Several Canon housings (350D, 400D, 450D and 40D) can also be equipped with an acrylic optical adapter which allows the use of fibre optic controlled strobes. As the internal strobe of the Canon camera can be triggered while the camera is installed inside the housing, this strobe can trigger and control (TTL) an external strobe by means of a fibre optic cable.

Lastest developments such as Hugyfot Housing for Nikon D7000 can also use the same technology where the top part of housing is now slightly raised to accomodate an open camera flash.

Each Hugyfot housing can be equipped with two
strobe connections that allow the use of underwater
strobes. The most common strobe connection is
the Nikonos 5-pin connection. When underwater
strobes with built-in TTL converters are used in 
combination with Canon cameras, the use of S-6
connections (6-pins) may be required.

Hugyfot housings are delivered with a standard viewfinder.
Optionally they can be equipped with 2 types 
of Inon viewfinders. 

Please note that a Hugyfot housing is pressure rated to 100m 
when equipped with the standard viewfinder. 
When equipped with the Inon viewfinders 
depth limit is reduced to 75m.

TTL converter - Hugyfot TTL Converter is installed inside the housing

The term TTL literally means ‘through the lens’ and stands for the light metering mode and flash duration of an SLR camera, which operates ‘through the lens’. Digital SLR cameras (DSLR) use a slightly different way of measuring the surrounding light and now days this light measuring mode is called iTTL (Nikon) and eTTL (Canon). TTL will measure the surrounding light and will send the necessary information to the strobe to allow a precise flash duration that will produce a perfectly exposed shot.

Digital SLR cameras use a digital TTL protocol (iTTL and eTTL) which does not match the older ‘analog’ TTL protocol of most underwater strobes. Therefore an electronic ‘translator’ is required to translate the camera’s eTTL or iTTL protocol into an analog TTL protocol. Hugyfot housings can be equipped with such a TTL converter which allows the use of most ‘analog’ TTL underwater strobes in combination with a digital camera. Note that there are underwater strobes available which already have a built-in TTL converter.

The 45 ° Viewfinder is an interchangeable finder unit to extend eye-point of camera's viewfinder without changing image size (x1.0) to see all finder image area even through a mask without vignetting. The eye piece is at 45 degree angle to camera's optical axis which helps to shoot lower subject like a goby on seabed. Also the eye piece is 360 degree rotatable making it easy to shoot vertical composition from low angle.

This can be used with a number of housing brands such as Hugyfot, Sea and Sea & Nexus.  Adapters are required to fit it properly for each brand.

INON "Shoe Base Set" enables INON strobe directly attached on compact digital camera underwater housing to provide more "compact" and "reasonable" set-up. Simply installs the Shoe Base Set on the hot-shoe of Panasonic marine-case including [DMW-MCFS5] [DMWMCFX40] [DMW-MCTZ7] or underwater housing from Olympus, Fujifilm and anybody can benefit external strobe shooting with compact gears without complicated setting. The Shoe Base Set is only 68.5mm in length. Boon to divers to keen to "diet" diving gears or divers hesitating to have external strobe.
