IKELITE UNDERWATER HOUSING 200DL FOR CANON EOS 7D MARK II
SKU:
Capture sharp, detailed photos and video beneath the surface with IKELITE UNDERWATER HOUSING 200DL FOR CANON EOS 7D MARK II. Both the front and back are depth rated to 200'. An Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead with a manual hot shoe connection enables reliable electrical triggering of optional, external strobes. Use of an optional TTL hot shoe and circuitry will allow for TTL operation with compatible Ikelite DS strobes; non-Ikelite strobes will still work in manual mode only.
SPECIFICATIONS:
- 200' (60m) depth rating
- Compatible with DL system lens ports
- 1/4-20 thread base mounts with 3.5" spacing
- Near neutral buoyancy in freshwater
- Actual buoyancy varies depending on the choice of lens and port
- 9 lb (2.2 kg)
- 5 x 7.1 x 6.5" (241 x 180 x 165 mm)
Construction Details
- Made by hand in the USA from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate and ABS plastic blend
- White on the front, top, sides, and bottom to reflect sunlight and keep the camera cool when shooting on or above water's surface
- Clear acrylic backplate lets you monitor the O-ring seal and maintain a view of the camera's rear controls
- Open-groove design suspends O-ring in a natural position, so it's easier to maintain and you don't have to force it into a channel
- Housing alone has nearly neutral buoyancy in fresh water; overall buoyancy when shooting depends on the choice of lens and port
- The camera mounting plate enables quick installation and does not need to be removed in order for you to gain battery or memory card access
- The mounting plate has a 1/4"-20 threaded hole on the bottom for connection to the tripod
Strobe Connection and Operation
- Use of external strobe is highly recommended for color correction and adequate brightness, and will be extremely helpful--if not essential--once you descend further than 15-20' underwater
- Strobe restores hues that get absorbed by water, so your images are vibrant and accurate
- Try to stay no more than 3-4' away from the subject to preserve natural colors in images
- Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead with a manual hot shoe connection enables reliable electrical triggering of optional, external strobes via sync cords
- Optional # 46070 CT1K Canon TTL Kit (hot shoe and circuitry) will allow for TTL operation with compatible Ikelite DS strobes; non-Ikelite strobes, such as Sea & Sea, Inon, and Nikonos models, will still work in manual mode only
- All strobes used with the camera in this housing require sync cord connection unless they are additional flash units being triggered as slaves by the hard-wired strobes
- Exposure compensation can be adjusted using in-camera controls
- Available sync cords: #4118.1 Single INON / Sea & Sea type, #4118.2 Dual INON / Sea & Sea type, #4116.31 Single Nikonos SB type, and #4116.32 Dual Nikonos SB type
- Older, non-digital strobes with ICS-5 bulkhead can be used in manual mode with #4103.51 Single or #4103.52 Dual cord
- Ikelite DS strobes support remote triggering via Optical Slave Converter #4403 or Aquatica's Water Wizard system
- Flash bulkhead moved to the top of the housing to keep cords out of the way and reduce strain on them
- Reliable locking connectors between hot shoe and bulkhead make installation of optional TTL electronics easy, while also allowing you to carry back up parts when traveling
Controls and Handling
- Ergonomic mechanical controls, including push-buttons, knurled knobs/dials, and levers, afford access to virtually all camera functions
- Accessible controls include shutter release, start/stop video recording, menu, info, magnify, playback, set, main dial, mode dial, drive mode, AF-ON, zoom, and delete
- Extra-large, soft-touch zoom/focus knob makes fine adjustments easy
- Shutter and AF-ON levers feature a curved design and can be elongated with optional #4077.93 Shutter Trigger Extension for increased comfort when using optional right-hand QR grip
- Push-buttons have been designed to reduce weight and salt buildup
- The rear of the housing has laser-engraved control symbols that won't fade over time
- Supplied, lightweight, hard-anodized aluminum tray with a left-hand quick-release grip affords improved balance and handling, while offering an attachment point for an optional lighting arm
- Tray and handle can be removed with ease for travel and storage
- 1/4"-20 threaded mounting point located front and center, above lens port mount, allowing for attachment of lightweight accessories like focus lights and GoPro action cams
- If shooting with 2 strobes, you can add an optional top handle to make carrying easier
- Included Supereye Viewfinder provides enhanced view of camera's OVF when seen through a dive mask
- Improve your view to an even greater extent with optional #6890 Straight Magnified Viewfinder or #6891.2 45° Magnified Viewfinder Type 2
Lens Port System
- Dry Lock (DL) Port System
- Housing ships without a required lens port, and accepts various interchangeable dome and flat ports for a broad array of zoom, macro, and wide-angle lenses
- Accommodates lenses with large diameters, such as Canon's EF 16-35mm Type II/III and 11-24mm
- Provides added security against leaks at the surface--thanks in large part to included vacuum valve for checking watertight integrity before dive
- #47011 Vacuum Pump with Gauge required in order to remove excess air and actually create a vacuum
- DL port mount may be removed and replaced by an older one to allow you to use standard and modular ports from Ikelite's Four Lock system
- To have the DL port mount re-installed, you will have to send housing back to Ikelite or an authorized dealer for service
